SmartChill™ CBD is pure CBD isolate formulated in Pheroid®-technology.  Pheroid®-technology is an effective and well-established drug delivery system known for its ability to increase the bioavailability of pharmaceutical products.  Pure CBD, on the other hand, is poorly absorbed and severely metabolized in the body, leading to very poor bioavailability.

During a blinded clinical trial of both male and female participants, CBD isolate was formulated in Pheroid®-technology (“SmartChill™ CBD”) in an attempt to improve the stability and bioavailability of CBD.  SmartChill™ CBD capsules and the equivalent dose (20 mg) of pure CBD isolate capsules (serving as a control) was orally administered to participants.

Following the oral administration of the SmartChill™ CBD and pure CBD isolate capsules, blood samples were collected at appropriate time intervals over a 48 hour period to obtain a complete pharmacokinetic profile of the formulations.

As seen below, a significant difference in the blood plasma concentration of CBD was observed between pure CBD isolate capsules and SmartChill™ CBD capsules.  The average maximum CBD concentration of the pure CBD isolate capsule was 0.18 nanogram per milliliter blood, whereas SmartChill™ CBD capsules showed an average maximum CBD concentration of 4.45 nanogram per milliliter blood.
